Intramural Awards & Successes

SCYSL family,

Each year, at our end of season festival, we ask that coaches distribute awards (medals) to a special player on each team according to guidelines below. These awards are named for two very special players that have come thru our league over the past 40 years.

The ADDY AWARD:

Addison De Los Santos played for South Country Soccer for several years. She was a terrific child and an incredible teammate. She touched the lives of everyone that knew her. While she was not the player that scores 3 goals a game, she was a coach’s dream player. One that would show up & play anywhere, passionately, without complaint. Addison’s memory will live on via the ADDY award.

This award is given once a year to one female intramural soccer player (per team) that exhibits the most passion for the game of soccer. In addition to this, the award winner should be the player who attends practice & games regularly, is never a discipline problem, plays whatever position on the field that the coaches ask, is on time and is always prepared to play, is a great teammate, and exhibits great sportsmanship.

At the EOY festival, the coaches of each team will meet to select the player that they believe is the most deserving of this award & announce the selection when giving out the trophies.

The Brooksie AWARD:

Brooks Bruncaj also played for South Country Soccer for several years. Brooks was an energetic child that had to deal with unfortunate personal family issues. However, on Sunday mornings, Brooks also touched the lives of everyone that knew him. While he (or his Grandmother) often had no idea what time, uniform color or even what team he was on, he always would show up every week, every YEAR until he was much, much too old to play intramurals anymore playing anywhere, passionately, without complaint. We are not sure where Brooks is today but we will think of him every time we present the Brooksie award.

This award is given once a year to one male intramural soccer player (per team) that exhibits the most passion for the game of soccer.
